[There's no way that she could possibly forget. Not when it concerns someone so dear to her. She's quiet when he makes that laugh and it almost makes her feel a little uncomfortable.]

It's ironic... technically I'd be considered a traitor, you know?

[Actually, correction-] Or rather, my past self would be. Shion. Anyway, was that the only think you wanted to talk to me about? That there's a bunch of traitors in your memories?

[hairstroke]

... You as well? I guess that makes the two of us both traitors.

[ Maybe fate was bringing these two traitors together for a reason. It's conflicting because while he hates that Mio has to go through this, he does appreciate that she can understand his dilemma. ]

No, that's not all. There's a few other things I need to tell you. I actually fought against one of those traitors and I think... I killed them. Which is ironic considering my status.

[ Although he's not for sure, given the context of what happened, he's certain that the person is dead. ]

I guess so.

[Her voice is a little somber hearing all of this, and to be honest? She doesn't like the thought. But she can understand it all too well. The fact that there's a few other things he wants to talk about... she can't help but feel concerned for his sake.]

I see. [Thankfully, she can take this a lot more calmly than most things. Maybe it's because she's not right next to him, that she can't see his face-- or perhaps it's because in this case she can separate herself from the events of Leon's past life.] I'll ask again, even though I asked the last time you had a memory about this sort of thing.

Did your past self enjoy it?

[Mio says those words cooly, trying not to let nervousness edge into her voice.]

[ His own voice is a little shaky when he responds. At first, he's tried to brush of his memories as just being a man who was stuck in the middle of a war, so he absolutely had to kill. But the more he remembers, he's fairly certain that it's not totally the case.

And that his past self was a horrible person. ]

I don't know, Mio.

[ This is probably the first time in his entire life where Leon is not sure about something and he hates it. What got under his skin even more is that he worries about what Mio will think about him. ]

I really want to say that he didn't, but I'm fairly certain he could care less about that man's life as he struck him down. Because once he did that, he said to finish off the rest of the soldiers and grind them into the dust.

[ He's had this memory buried in the back of his mind for at least a month and this is the first time he's ever actually spoken about it to anyone. It's a good thing they aren't sitting next to each other because he's becoming a nervous wreck with each passing second. ]

Mio. I'm quite certain I was a terrible and cruel person in my past life.

[promisedyou]

[The moment she hears the shakiness in his voice is the moment where she almost feels her heart almost split in two. And when he finally says it, that he doesn't know she can't help but fall silent for a few moments, trying to pull her thoughts together before she finally sighs.]

It's okay, Leon. It's okay...

[She says those words in a way that seems to be an attempt to be reassuring, although Mio honestly isn't sure if it's convincing enough.]

That doesn't matter to me. I don't care.

[To be honest? It hurts that she's unable to be there by his side to let him use her shoulder and pour out his emotions, his feelings. If he wanted to cry, she'd let him have that.

She didn't want him to keep this all bubbled up inside of him the whole time. It wasn't fair to him.]

Listen to me. [She pours emotion in her voice, completely serious.] Even if you were a terrible and cruel person in your past life... that's not the kind of person you are right now, Leon. We both know this. We can be better than our past selves.

I want to believe that. Can you promise me this? That we won't... become our past selves?

[ One of the things he hates the most is feeling weak and helpless. In some ways, Leon wishes that he could be more similiar to his past life so he can bury those sensitive feelings and not have to worry about being emotional. Still, even with those lingering thoughts he knows that it's not what he truly wanted. If that happened, then he most likely wouldn't experience love. Being deeply in love with Mio is what his heart desired. ] Mio... [ He's listening to her kind words. The way he said her name is filled with so much emotion. Honestly, what he really wants is to be by her side and pull her into a loving embrace so he can feel her warmth. But she's got work to do and he doesn't want to distract her from that, he's already feeling terrible that they are having this conversation while she's busy. ] Having you by my side makes me the luckiest man on the planet. There's not a day that goes by in which I don't count my blessings that we are together. I promise to do better than him. For both of our sakes and happiness, we won't become the people we were in our past lives.

[On one hand, there are many things that Shion has that Mio herself doesn't-- she's powerful. But at the same time, the memories she's been shown have shown just how fragile she really is, too, in spite of having so much power. And she gets that.

She understands it so much and she's kind of terrified that she'll wind up becoming that person. That's why she wants to make this promise.

(Which, honestly, is a little ironic, considering that she literally went back to becoming 'Shion' last month.)

She doesn't want to make any more mistakes.]

[However, she's silent over the phone for a while, trying to think of the proper words to say. As much as she wants to make this promise, it's also hard for her because she understands Shion so well that it's honestly actually a little terrifying.

If he wants to be by her side and embrace her? That's... actually want she wants, too, because she can feel her fingers tremble even as she's holding the phone in her hands.]

Thank you. [Mio is trying so hard to even out her voice, so if it comes out a little unnatural, it's because she's trying to hide the tremble.] I really am glad I met you, every single day. My life would have probably been a lot different if you weren't in my life. I probably would still--

[While he might not be able to see it, she shakes her head and just simply sighs, trying not to think about it too much.]

Yeah. Also... I know I already apologized before, but I want to apologize again, for when I became 'Shion' last month.

[ Listening to her unnatural sounding voice seriously made him want to hop into his car and drive over to where she's at. It tears him up that he's not able to be there for her. At this very moment, he kind of wishes that he had a normal life if it meant getting to spend more time with Mio and be there for her when needed.

His urge to hug her is growing stronger by the moment, his fingertips grip thighly against the phone in an attempt to soothe his nerves. ]

Thank you as well. Hearing those words make me so incredibly happy, Mio. It's the best thing anyone has ever said to me.

[ It makes him want to rush to her side even more. The apology especially tugged at his heartstrings. ]

It's fine. What happened last month wasn't your fault. Please don't blame yourself.

... Geez.

[She can't help herself, because now she finds herself laughing and her shoulders are shaking and she's crying but she's trying to make sure he doesn't hear it, which shows when the sound is a little muffled. Of course, the laugh that she makes isn't one that she's proud of, but rather something that almost sounds like broken piano tiles being played one by one.

Well, shit.

She can't continue this conversation if she's a mess like this. It makes her mind reel back to what Xiaolang asked her, just moments before he called her. Asking if she's okay.

There's the part of her that wants to grin and bear it. She just wants to tell everyone she knows that she's fine, that she's fine, that things are back to normal. Honestly? She wishes she could just say that and make it come true. That she could just simply make herself 'fine' just by saying she is, like a magic spell.

But there's no magic that can do that for her. Not unless she ultimately forgot everything about Retrospec, about her memories. Yet... she doesn't want that, either. In a way, she feels that this application gave her something that she would never have without it. The ability to change herself. She probably wouldn't have made the decision to make herself a better person if it weren't for the horrible things she saw Shion do.

And there's a part of her that feels sick just thinking about it.]

Mm... it was still my fault in some ways, though. I should have known better than to go to that place on my own. But "curiosity killed the cat", as they say. I just wish I was stronger, you know? You're the only person that knows the truth about Shion's past. I haven't told anyone else, because I'm scared of how people might see me if they do.

[And it terrifies her, right down to her very core.]

And that woman used that fact. Even Shion couldn't tell anyone what kind of person she was to others. Hey, did you know that your cousin found me when I lost my memories? I'm still... I'm terrified that he -- that anybody else is going to find out just what kind of person Shion is and abandon me. [Her voice shakes and she sounds like she's going to cry. In fact, she actually is.] I don't want to be alone again! It's selfish, but that's all I want.

[It's all she's ever wanted.] You won't ever leave me, right?

[She asks it, sounding almost desperate. Like she wants him to promise her this.]

[ Listening the pain in her voice made him want to cry. What makes saddens him the most is seeing her suffer and it makes him want to rush to her side right this moment. He honestly didn't even care about anything else except for Mio. ]

If anyone judges you based on your retrospec memories, then they aren't good people to be around. You are Mio and should someone see you in the same light as Shion, then they are sorely mistaken. If they truly care about you, then they will see past that.

[ Which is a little hypocritical on his part since he was just spilling out his own concerns over how terrible of a person his past life was. ]

No. I had no idea that Xiaolang found you in that state. A classmate of mine informed me about what happened to you which is how I ended up there.

[ To which he struck a promise with Ishida on that note. Despite that he claims him as his rival, he does trust him enough to look after Mio and be a friend to her. He pauses for a short moment, before he finally responds with conviction in his voice. ]

I promise. There's no way you will ever be alone because I love you and I'm always going to be here for you.

[ No matter what happens, he intends on keeping with that promise. Even if something awful were to happen, it won't matter to him because he will always and forever love Mio. She's the one who captured his heart and became the most important person in his life. She's helped him in so many ways and because of her, Leon has become much less selfish. His love for her is so strong that he would rather something bad happen to him, than her. He will gladly be her shield and protect her. ]

... Can I come visit you? I want to see you.

[ The muffled sounds give him a clue that she's crying and it tears his heart in two. His desire to embrace her had reached it's peak and he didn't even care that he had to study. Mio is far more important than school. ]

[There aren't any words that she can muster up. Not immediately, anyway. She just simply listens to him, quiet.]

Oh, you're talking about Ishida, right?

[She remembers his name, and it's the only person that she met while she was in that state that's in his age bracket.] Mm... he said nice things about you. He's a good person.

[Not that she had any doubts to begin with. But that promise makes her relax a little.]

I'm glad. [But he asks if he can come visit, and she laughs a little bit. Not in a crazy way, but actual, genuine laughter.] You want to see me this late, Leon?

[hairstroke]

[ Mio saying his rival's name catches him by surprise and at first, he doesn't say anything. The only thing that could be heard is an annoyed grumble and a long, exasperated sigh. ]

... Yes. Him.

[ Ugh, he hates having to admit that. Although, hearing that Ishida was actually praising him causes him to turn several shades of red. It's a good thing Mio can't see him because he's super embarrassed by it.

But he couldn't deny that hearing that made him happy. ]

It's about time that guy realized how great I am. [ He's grumbling some more, but it's becoming more obvious how embarrassed he is. ] Don't get your hopes up too much for him, he's a bit foolish. [ He pauses. ] But I am relived he's the one that found you. As annoying as he is, Ishida is one of the most reliable people I've ever met.

[ IT'S NOT LIKE HE LIKES ISHIDA OR SOMETHING???? Says the worlds biggest tsundere. Hearing her laugh does make him smile. It's just what he needs. ]

Yes. I need to see you. I... desire to pull you into my arms for a warm embrace.

[She finds it a little bit funny, the way he says all of that. To be honest, she kind of wants to call him out on how tsundere he actually is, but she decides against it for the time being.

After all that though, she does sigh.]

Okay. But can we meet somewhere that isn't either of our houses? I don't want to bother anyone in the house.

Let's do that. There's something else I need to tell you about my past life anyhow that I don't want a lot of people to know just yet.

[ He's still... trying to process it and in a way, Leon isn't even sure if he believes it just yet. It's so shocking that it's making him unsure. ]

Where would you like to meet up? Do you want to go to a hotel? [ But then he immediately pauses as he realizes the implications of that. ] J-Just to talk!

I don't mind going to a hotel. Even though you say it's just to talk, you'll probably want more than that in the end... I don't mind if that's what you want, Leon-sama.

[She is absolutely doing that on purpose and they both know it.]

You...!!!! [ It's frustrating because he can't even deny it since it's true. He full well knows that he'll give into his urges as soon as he sees her. It also doesn't hlpe that she calls him Leon-sama which is more than enough to get him to do anything she asks. A long sigh passes through his lips as he mutters something under his breath before finally speaking. ] W-Whatever! It sounds like you want to do more than just talk. [ It's so hard to talk since his face feels like it's burning. ] Do you want to meet up at the usual place?

[She can't help but tease him just a little bit, because his reactions are just so great and amusing.]

You say that as if you don't, Leon. [And indeed, Mio is actually laughing a bit. It's a nice change of pace from all the seriousness.] Yeah, we can meet there.

[hairstroke]

[ Even if he doesn't like being teased, if it can help her worries then he sort of doesn't mind. ]

I'm going to go head out, then. I'll see you in a little bit, Mio.

[ True to his word, he immediately makes his way to the hotel as soon as he hangs up. Since they have been there so many times, Leon pretty much automatically knows where to go and it doesn't take him long to reach his destination. Upon arrival, he already sets up a reservation for their usual room and once that's done, he casually waits in the lobby for his girlfriend. ]

I'll see you.

[Those are her last words before she hangs up, getting something to wear before heading out, wearing her hair up in a ponytail as she meets up with him in the lobby, wearing a small smile.

She brought a small bag with her as well just in case of emergencies, too.]

....hey. [Mio smiles when she sees him, relieved to see his face.]

[ Even though he could listen to Mio's lovely voice all evening, seeing her in person is like ten times better. Everytime he sees her, Leon finds himself starstruck by her beauty and he's so blessed. He really is the most lucky guy in the universe.

He smiles at her and eagerly approaches her, wasting no time in swooping her in his arms for a longing kiss. Ever since he spoke to her over the phone, he's been waiting to do that. With a bit of reluctance, he pulls away and slides his hand over to meet with hers. ]

... Hey. You look beautiful.

[She honestly agrees that seeing Leon in person is probably one of the best things that she could ever have. Maybe that's a good thing, really, but when he brings her in close to kiss her, she can't hide the bright pink tinge of her cheeks, of already yearning for him to just hold her close and kiss her more.

But he pulls away from her and there's something fleeting there before she feels his hand on her own.]

Ah- [...] This is just something I pulled on together really quickly. Anyway, should we go?

[hairstroke]

Really? It doesn't look like it. [ a beat. ] Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. Because you look stunning in anything you wear.

[ It's the truth. Mio literally looks amazing in every single one of her outfits. Every time he sees her, he's in awe by her natural beauty and how she's able to pull off anything. ]

Yeah, let's go. We have a different room today, but the receptionist assured me that it's really pretty.

[ At this point, the receptionist is probably very familiar with this couple. While holding onto her hand, he leads her to the elevator that takes them straight to the top. Upon arrival, Leon glances at all the numbers while trying to find the one that matches the set of keys he was given. It's a few doors down, but he eventually reaches the door that belongs to them. He swipes the key card, letting it turn green to unlock as he opens the door for the two of them, revealing a very luxurious looking room.

Leon actually looks really impressed and it shows from the way he whistles upon entering. ]

This is a lot nicer than what I expected.

You're flattering me...

[Her cheeks are a bright red at this point. To be honest, she wouldn't be surprised if the receptionist didn't start gossiping about them considering that they tend to visit this exact hotel every now and again. Especially when these two are pretty much gushing over each other every chance they can get.

But the fact that they have a different room is a surprise, but it's not a bad thing, she thinks.

Lacing her fingers with his own, she gives it a tight squeeze as she follows him to the elevator, waiting inside as she hums a rather slow, somewhat melancholic song almost under her breath as she waits for them to get right to the top. Once they're there, however, there's no stopping as she continues to let him lead the way as he swipes the key card, waiting for the light to turn green before he opens the door.

The room that the door shows the two of them is in fact beautiful-- it's white and pure to the point where she feels like it doesn't suit the two of them. Not that Mio would say a word about that as she lets go of his hand for a moment to take off, immediately removing her shoes by the entrance before taking off the small bag she brought with her next to the bed before she childishly just jumps onto the mattress, laughing quite a bit as she stares at the canopy's ceiling above her.]

Aah, this bed really is nice and soft~! [It can make her forget her worries just for a little bit.] Although we probably shouldn't stay here too long. I mean, I can probably stay out all I want to, but you have someone to take care of back home. Even if he could take care of himself.

[Mio, please..... she does take one of the pillows and sits up, hugging it close as she shifts to look at him more directly.]

So what was the other thing you wanted to talk about, by the way?

[hairstroke]

[ This room really is too pure for the both of them. It's almost ironic that this is what they ended up with. It's borderline innocent and he knows full well that neither one of them are innocent people. Both right now and in their previous lives. ]

You're right. We can only stay here for so long since I need to get back to Xiaolang.

[ Still, even if it was for a short moment, he just wanted to spend some time alone with his girlfriend. They hardly ever get any moments like these to themselves. It's insane to spend this amount of money just for a few short hours but he really doesn't care.

Especially when he sees her smile as she plops onto the bed. It causes him to laugh a little as he takes off his own shoes and sits next to her. The bed really is comfortable, it's one of the softest mattresses he's ever been on. Her almost child-like reaction to the room is so cute and it warms his heart that he's able to witness it. Seeing her like this is a nice change of pace from their previous conversation. ]

You really do have the cutest reactions. [ He smirks a little and reaches out to stroke the top of her head for a few moments before he falls silent in response to her question. ] It's about my true identity.

[ He pauses for a short moment in an attempt to figure out how to explain this to her. It's strange, in the past he's had no problem telling her about what kind of memories have plagued his mind. But in this case, even Leon himself is having a hard time believing who he really is. ]

How familiar are you with the Chinese Three Kingdoms period?

[ Mio's a smart girl, so he figures that she already knows about the Three Kingdoms era. Of course, anyone who is familiar with Asian history should know about it. The extent of her knowledge is what he's not too sure about. Especially in regards to who he truly is. It's not like he's someone well known like Liu Bei, Cao Cao or Sun Quan. ]

It really is too bad, isn't it? And I wanted to do so much with you. ♥

[She says it in what seems to be an affectionate, almost in a way that seems to seems a little more than just that, especially as she leans her head against him, mewling a little bit when he runs his fingers through her hair. Of course, Mio's cheeks burn a bright scarlet, embarrassed.

And then he asks.

So you are saying you're an old man. [Mio!!!! But a touch more seriously:] The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is actually really popular back home, so I've read it... but it's been a while, so I don't remember all the fine details.
